Red Scorpion Dojo, Shotokan Karate, Warkworth, New Zealand
Red Scorpion Dojo has its own fulltime dojo situated at the Warkworth Showgrounds. The dojo caters for all ages, and boasts a mix of excellent Instructors.
The dojo’s Chief Instructor (Sensei) is a 4th Dan Black Belt. The primary Martial Art is Shotokan Karate and the dojo boasts a compliment of some 40 students.
Our Sensei has trained in the Martial Arts for over 30 years, starting off in Judo before training in the UK in Shotokan Karate. He then joined the British Army where he trained extensively in unarmed combat and kickboxing. He became part of a specialised Airborne unit on 72 hours standby to deploy to any part of the world; trained in freefall parachuting and close quarter protection, unarmed combat and specialist weapons . After a number of years in this role he joined the British Police and furthered skills in Aikido along with a return to Shotokan Karate. Advanced driving and pursuit driving, along with police firearms and tactics, restraint and control techniques added to Sensei's skill base.
The training offered is Shotokan Karate based, interspersed with techniques from other systems, to form a very strong, not only traditional, but street oriented reality based Martial Art. Having been in some of the toughest situations in the toughest places in the world, Sensei now feels it is time to pass on the skills and experience gained throughout his 30 years Military, Police, Intelligence and Security Consultancy work.
Sensei continues to carry out security and intelligence consulting and training to overseas Military and Law Enforcement Special Forces; travelling regularly to the Middle East and South East Asia.
Red Scorpion Dojo boasts a compliment of excellent Black Belt Instructors.
The dojo is active in local and national competitions where they regularly rank in the top 3.
Shotokan Karate is great fitness training, mental preparedness training, confidence building and the strongest form of self defence. If you are interested, please come along and visit us on any one of our training nights.
